7mm Turnout Actuator - without polarity switch

£9.00

This actuator is a development of the original design and incorporates drive pins to suit 7mm scale track work.

In many 'finescale' applications users want to drive each of the switch rails using vertical through-baseboard drive pins.
To facilitate this, these actuators are supplied with machined bosses incorporating a 1.5mm bore through which a suitable stainless steel capillary tube is fitted and fastened using a grub screw. A 0.9mm wire soldered to the switch rail is passed through the capillary tube.
Such an arrangement allows the drive pin to rotate independently within the the capillary tube as the switch rail travels through its arc of operating movement which reduces stress upon the soldered joint with the rail, leading to greater longevity.

The design is such that the drive bosses are adjustable allowing the user to set the gauge to their precise needs. To do so, it will be necessary to remove the slider part of the assembly (2xM3 screws) and set the drive bosses to the desired gauge before locking them with CA glue or loctite. Instructions for doing so are supplied with the device.

These devices work equally well driving a movable 'tie-bar' via a single drive pin, to do so simply use just one of the drive bosses for actuation.

Should at any time maintenance be required, then the unit can be removed from the baseboard without disturbing the turnout or its operating pins.

The unit is also available with a single switch or with double switches for those who wish to control polarity at the common crossing (frog).
