***New*** Ballast Buster Cyclone System, pre-order for dispatch from 14/03/25
This device will make the task of ballasting your model railway track much simpler - and much more enjoyable.
This new version harks back to my original concept, which was superb. At the time is was too costly and time consuming to manufacture using the equipment I had available at the time.
Now, re-designed (but with the same concept) the separator cap uses a cyclone to separate the ballast from the vacuum flow more efficiently than my alternative design which uses a special cap affixed to a 'pop' bottle.
The cyclone drops onto a baked bean cap or similar to collect the ballast surplus for re-use and has a flange incorporated into the design to allow the cyclone to be bolted to a lidded bucket for those who are bulk-ballasting.
A single hose connects the two components (the vacuum head and the cyclone separator), and the whole ensemble is much less unwieldy than the 'pop' bottle version. A 2m hose is supplied as standard - please use the contact form
The separator is designed to take the metal pipe of a 'Henry' vacuum cleaner and should fit other vacuum appliance pipes. The internal bore is 31mm.
Alternative fittings can be supplied to special order, please get in-touch via the contact page should you require the unit to be modified to suit your needs.
To see the device in use check-out Simon (of Heaton Lodge Junction), using it for what must be one of the most epic ballasting projects ever undertaken.
